Celebrating Exceptional GCSE Results
Back
As schools across the country open for results day, Wayland Academy pupils have been celebrating their final GCSE grades.
Our school has seen 80% of pupils achieve grades 9-4 in both English and maths, and 64% at grades 9-5, the best results that we have ever achieved! Compared to last year, grades 5+ in English and maths have improved 14%, continuing to give students the best possible start to their futures.
Principal, Lucy Austin said:
“On behalf of the staff and students of Wayland Academy I would like to share our heartfelt congratulations with the Class of 2025 – they are the stuff legends are made of! A truly wonderful group of young people who are ‘leading the way’ for those who follow them both at Wayland Academy and in similar schools across the country. Our students worked hard, and this spectacular set of results just proves that it pays off in the end! We are very excited for them and wish them all the very best for their next steps knowing they’ve got a bright future ahead of them. Well done to all of you and a shout out of huge appreciation to your ‘co-pilots’, your family, friends and staff who helped you along the way.”
Chloe said, “I was so excited this morning and thrilled that I have got a 7 in maths.”
Olivia said, “I’m so happy with my results and excited about going to sixth form in September!”
Jack is going to study Acting at City College and said, “However you feel in the moment, will not define you at the end – it's all worth it.”
Oliver will be studying Biology and English A-Level at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form in Norwich, also part of Inspiration Trust, he said:
“I am so grateful for the lots of support I received at Wayland, especially from Miss Martin. Thank you!”
Ryan, Jimi, Jai and Chloe are all off to Access Creative, these future rockstars said “It’s been a wild time and a good community!”
How the GCSE 9-1 scale compares to the old A*-G scale:
Grades 9-7 = A*-A. Grades 6-4 = B-C. Grades 9-4 = A*-C
The government publishes the percentage of pupils who achieve grade 5 or above in English and maths.
