Rosy, a pupil in year 10, has been volunteering her time by befriending a resident at a local care home. When she came to us at school to tell us about a project she wanted to run, there was no doubt that this would be great for not just the residents of the care home but also the pupils at Wayland.

Rosy took the names and interests of a number of residents who were likely to receive very few gifts, if any over the festive period. Each Form and House were given a resident and a description about their interests. This allowed them to write cards and buy make or source relevant gifts.

Pupils and their families got behind Rosy 100%, with over 25 boxes and bags of gifts, homemade knitted blankets, school designed and made Christmas decorations and a cuddly toy packed up and transported to Dorrington House, Watton last Friday.

15 pupils from the choir, Mr Jackson, Music Teacher, and Ms Austin, Principal, accompanied Rosy to the care home to hand over the gifts. They performed a number of songs for the residents to enjoy and then spent some time speaking with them about their interests.
