Wayland Academy Celebrates Exceptional GCSE Results
Back
As schools across the country open for results day, Wayland Academy pupils have been celebrating their final GCSE grades. We have seen 74% of pupils achieve grades 9-4 in both English and maths, and 60% at grades 9-5, showing a strong trajectory of improvement over recent years at the academy.
Principal of Wayland Academy Lucy Austin said:
“On behalf of the staff and students of Wayland Academy I would like to share our wholehearted congratulations with the Class of 2026 – stepping up to the challenge and continuing the legacy of the year before! A fantastic group of young people who are ‘leading the way’ for those who follow them both at Wayland Academy and in similar schools across the country.
Our students worked hard, and this set of results shows they are ready for their next steps. We are very excited for them and wish them all the very best for what lies ahead in their futures with the qualifications that give them choices. Well done to all of you and a shout out of huge appreciation to those who have supported you every step of the way, your family, friends and staff.”
Shannon and Kaitlin (pictured), both achieved fantastic sets of results. Kaitlin achieved 11 GCSEs above a Grade 5, with 10 of those at Grade 8 or above. Shannon also achieved 10 GCSEs above a Grade 5, with 6 results at Grade 8 or above.
Jayden (pictured) has worked really hard throughout his time at Wayland, and achieved a fantastic set of results, with 9 GCSEs above Grade 4, including 3 Grade 7s and 4 Grade 6s.
Kayleigh (pictured on right) has worked incredibly hard to achieve a great set of results. Having had a period out of school in year 10 due to personal circumstances she has worked tirelessly to make up for lost time. Kayleigh achieved 10 GCSEs above Grade 5, with 4 at Grade 9 and 2 at Grade 8.
Kayleigh said "I'm really happy with my results, amazing! All the hard work paid off and I really appreciate all the support I've had from my teachers. Hopefully, I can get into Sir Isaac Newton so I can go onto Veterinary or Engineering!"
