Carter

Howard Carter, British archaeologist, who made one of the richest and most-celebrated contributions to Egyptology: the discovery (1922) of the largely intact tomb of the King Tutankhamon. When Howard Carter opened a small hole to peer inside the tomb at treasures hidden for 3000 years, he unleashed a global passion for ancient Egypt. Howard Carter lived locally in Swaffham.
